Statement:
My
recent paintings have dealt with the blending of senses, mainly in the
abstraction of music and how it is conceptualized; such as how can noise
create visual images for us and why we assign visual movement to sound
vibrations. For me sound and color have many similarities in their ability
to shape and overwhelm our thoughts as the puddles of senses can overflow
into some kind of creation. Both embody two of the most prominent focuses
of life: appreciation and pleasure.
Because
I am continually changing and exploring mentally and artistically, I do
not have a distinct style. The paintings strongly reflect the impact of
environment on my mentality, as it moves in stages, so I prefer to not
persist in only one style or subject.
Oil
painting is my favorite medium, although I also enjoy pen and ink, watercolor
and acrylics. I have not had any academic instruction in oil painting,
although it may be a possibility. My future plans are yet in the fragmentary
stage, where they will most likely remain as things unfold.
