My greatest
aspiration in life is to comprehend, and through my art, to
portray the essential ingredient, the life and light that exists
in and propels everything and everyone. My paintings are a product
of this goal.
In a flower, the way the
light makes the delicate petals translucent. How they seem to
dance, their beautiful colors belying their evanescence. The
delicate wings of an insect, the magnificent moments caught
between life and death. First here, and then gone...
In various views from my
apartment windows, I am intrigued by several things. The ethereal,
transparent, ever changing quality of the sky against the solid
silhouettes of man-made buildings. And how the city turns magic in
the evening when building windows sparkle like rectangles of
golden orange jewels.
As I look inside the nearest
windows of my neighbors, and paint them, I get fleeting views of
people moving about, sitting at desks, reading, dancing, talking
to each other, exercising, and I am reminded that I am surrounded
by another form of nature: the human kind.
