I've
been creating pottery for a few years now since retiring from
teaching. I find that sitting at my wheel is more a meditation
than anything else. What happens to the clay as I manipulate its
essence is often a surprise to me. There are times when I sit and
plan an art piece, but most of the time "it" just
happens as I feel my actions flow into the creative universe. As
an artist friend once wrote, "My finest moments are found in
varying moments during the imaginative and creative stages. The
end product is only the documentation of the experience
traveled." The art just flows down my arms.
All my pieces are high fired,
cone 6 or higher, with lead free glazes. The bowls and dinnerware
are food and microwave safe. Commissions are welcome. Naturally,
all my pottery can not be pictured on this site. Please contact me
for more information if you are interested in a particular piece
of style.
My Dream Catchers or
"Cosmic Webs" as I like to call them are made from grape
ivy, bamboo, or willow. Webs can be made with any kind of wood
that can be turned into a circle. I collect feathers from friends
who raise exotic birds. The feathers generally fall off of the
birds several times a year so no birds are ever harmed. I consider
each Cosmic Web a work of art just like my pottery. Cosmic Webs
can be made with a two inch diameter to a six foot diameter.
Prices vary for size. If you order a Cosmic Web via email or snail
mail mention the diameter you would like, and I will pick one out
for you. Contact me for further information on all my art work.
