Peter Almonte
|
Peter Almonte, a resident of the Lake Monticello community began painting in the 1950’s while an architectural student in Ohio, where he won several awards. Prior to moving to Virginia, he exhibited in New York during the 70’s and 80’s. Several of his watercolors are in private collections, including those of CEO’s of major NYC corporations. He is best known locally for his “Blessing of the Hounds”. The original painting hangs at Grace Episcopal Church, Keswick, where this annual event takes place. Many recent works involve scenes from international trips taken as a member of the “Charlottesville Friendship Force”. Giclee reproductions of many of these are also available. The artist has a special affinity for seascapes and architectural subjects. Most works contain greater attention to detail than normally associated with watercolor. However, the freedom of the medium is rarely sacrificed and color, harmony and composition are emphasized. The artist is available to create original watercolors of favorite subjects and scenes submitted by clients. |
