Pastel, Oil

Joan Dreicer
Pastel, Oil
Joan's intention when painting is to draw the viewer in with strong compositional pieces that highlight the beauty of light. She paints with emotion when interacting with her subject, to express the beauty she sees. Color relationships, shapes, light and shadow, are tools used to communicate her message. Primarily painting in landscapes, Joan also enjoys painting portraits and still life. Her mediums of choice are pastels or oils.
Artists influencing her work include contemporary artists: Rose Frantzen, David Kassan, Scott Christensen, Aline Ordman and Jacob Aguiar. Works from George Inness, Vermeer, Sargent and Robert Henri are some of her favorite painters of the past.
