Carol's art develops through manipulating materials. The interaction of lines or swashes of paint & painted paper or canvas scraps evolves through attention to the negative space. It is important that the process of creating leads her to a new discovery. Ralph Waldo Emerson gives her inspiration. Ralph Waldo Emerson: “We may climb into the thin and cold realm of pure geometry and lifeless science, or sink into that of sensation. Between these extremes is the equator of life, of thought, or spirit, or poetry—a narrow belt.” Carol has been a visual artist for 25 years, first as an illustrator & graphic designer, now as an educator & exhibiting artist. She has a BFA from JMU and MFA from Radford U. She teaches at the Arts Center in Orange.
