WELCOME!
BozART is a collective of artists from around the Central Virginia area. Our collective chiefly shows two-dimensional fine art paintings and photography. We exhibit as a group and also offer our members some individual shows at venues around the central part of Virginia Our members work together arranging shows and sharing tasks our monthly or bi-monthly meetings allow us to share information and provide camaraderie. These meetings held around the area at announced locations. Please consider what the expectations of members listed below are before applying.
WHAT BozART DOES:
Provides opportunities to exhibit artwork in Central Virginia. Shows are planned by a facilitator who contacts the venue and then emails the details of the show to the members. These are details such as the number of entries per member, reception information, commissions on sales and label information for artwork. Shows are assisted by two or more helpers to make labels, transport, hang, and uninstall the artwork. Provides publicity for exhibitions: local news media; BozART’s website, Facebook and Instagram accounts and our e-newsletter sent out to hundreds of our followers. Includes a page for each member on the BozART website Monthly or bimonthly meetings to exchange information, organize upcoming shows an share ideas to benefit the members. Provides current information to members to keep them abreast of BozART’s shared needs and exhibition opportunities
BozART’s MEMBERS KEEP CURRENT AS ARTISTS AND ASSIST ACTIVELY WITH GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL SHOW PREPARATIONS.
Attend monthly meetings to be informed, give suggestions, voice concerns and share new ideas. ARE proactive with social media. Actively practice your art and seek new ideas to move ahead in your medium. Promote our shows and encourage patrons to follow us on the BozART website and e-newsletter, on Facebook, Instagram, other media.
Consider how your skills can be used to benefit the membership and help reach BozART’s goals by both helping with and facilitating shows. Exhibit artwork in a professional manner with identification on the back of the work. (Displayed work is expected to be framed or be on two-inch canvas or board with finished edges.) Pay annual dues at the beginning of the calendar year. (New members’ dues are prorated.)
To Apply:
First, download the application and use its framework to provide needed information. Then email it, along with 8-10 images of work done within the last three years, to Judith Ely at [email protected] The email’s subject line should say, “BozART membership”.
The application and images will be assessed by the members of BozART for a final decision on membership.
